GarageGuide (“GarageGuide,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the GarageGuide website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.
By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Depending on how you use GarageGuide, we collect the following categories of information.
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, account identifier, and authentication information. If you sign in with Google, we may receive your name as provided by Google. We also store your account role (user or admin), subscription plan (free or Pro), preferred language, and usage counters used for rate limiting and abuse prevention (such as the timestamp of your most recent AI request, whether a request is in progress, and the number of diagnoses you have completed).
Vehicle Information
When you add a vehicle, we collect the information you enter: year, make, model, trim, engine, drivetrain, mileage, and an optional nickname. This information is saved to your account so you do not have to re-enter it. Vehicle records are visible only to you.
Diagnostic and Repair Information
When you use GarageGuide's diagnostic or repair features, we collect and store the information you provide, including: vehicle symptoms, OBD-II trouble codes, the questions and answers exchanged during a diagnostic session, test results, suspected or confirmed vehicle problems, parts being considered, and AI-generated diagnoses, repair guides, and recommendations. Diagnostic sessions are saved to your account so you can review them later. Diagnostic records are visible only to you.
Photos and Uploaded Images
If you upload a photograph for diagnostic or repair assistance (for example, a photo of an engine bay or a part), we store that image as a private file and send it to our AI provider for analysis. Photos are validated server-side: only image files under 10 MB are accepted, and SVG files are rejected for security reasons. Photo ownership records are associated with your account. You should avoid including people, license plates, documents, addresses, or other unnecessary personal information in uploaded images.
Usage and Security Information
We collect and store information about how you use GarageGuide so we can operate, secure, and improve the Service. This includes: AI usage logs (the diagnosis a request belongs to, a label describing the vehicle, the question or step number, which AI feature was used, token counts, the model used, an estimated cost, and a timestamp); rate-limiting and concurrency flags (the timestamp of your last AI call and whether a call is currently in progress); and general technical information automatically received by our infrastructure, such as device and browser type, operating system, app version, pages or features used, dates and times of activity, and error or crash information. Our infrastructure provider may receive IP addresses and similar network information as part of normal operation; we do not separately store IP addresses in your account data.
Purchase and Subscription Information
When you subscribe to GarageGuide Pro, we create and store purchase records that include: the product purchased, transaction and subscription identifiers, purchase dates, the amount and currency charged, renewal or cancellation status, and the buyer email associated with your account. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number, CVC, or other sensitive card data — Stripe handles those fields directly. Stripe may provide us with transaction identifiers, subscription status, and the email associated with your Stripe account so we can grant and manage your access.
Legal Consent Records
When you accept these Terms or acknowledge our safety warnings, we store a record of the version you accepted and the timestamp so we can track compliance.

GarageGuide uses Google's Gemini / Google AI services to provide AI-powered diagnostics, repair guidance, and photo analysis. Information necessary to generate a response may be transmitted to Google. This information may include:
We attempt to transmit only information reasonably necessary to provide the requested AI feature. However, once information is transmitted to Google, it is subject to Google's own data-handling and retention practices. We encourage you to review Google's privacy and AI terms to understand how they process data. You should not submit sensitive personal information through diagnostic prompts or image uploads unless it is necessary for the feature.
AI-generated responses are also stored by GarageGuide as part of your diagnostic history so you can review them later and so we can operate and improve the Service.
We use third-party providers to operate GarageGuide. These providers may receive information necessary to perform their services:

GarageGuide may recommend automotive parts, tools, supplies, retailers, or other third-party products and services. If you follow a link to another website or application, that third party may collect information according to its own privacy policy.
GarageGuide may participate in affiliate or referral programs. This means we may receive compensation when a user purchases certain products or services through links provided by GarageGuide. Where required, we will disclose affiliate relationships near the applicable recommendation or link.

For Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to: comply with applicable law, legal process, or governmental requests; protect the rights, property, or safety of GarageGuide, our users, or others; investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or illegal activity; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Business Transfers
If GarageGuide or its assets are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, bankruptcy, or sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
GarageGuide does not sell personal information for money. If our practices change or applicable privacy law treats certain data-sharing activities as a “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising, we will provide disclosures and choices required by applicable law.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Service, maintaining user accounts, processing purchases, preventing abuse, enforcing our Terms, complying with legal obligations, and resolving disputes. Different types of information may be retained for different periods.
When you delete your account (see Section 10), we remove your vehicles, diagnostic sessions, photo ownership records, legal consent records, AI usage logs, and purchase records. Some information may temporarily remain in backups or logs before being deleted through normal system cycles, and we may retain limited information where required or permitted by law for fraud prevention, security, accounting, or legal compliance.
You can delete your GarageGuide account and associated personal information at any time from within the app. To do so, sign in, go to the Settings page, and use the “Delete Account” option. Deleting your account removes your vehicles, diagnostic sessions, photo ownership records, legal consent records, AI usage logs, and purchase records.

We may need to retain limited information where required or permitted by law, including information necessary for fraud prevention, security, accounting, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Some information may temporarily remain in backups before being deleted through normal backup cycles.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These measures include authentication controls, per-user row-level access restrictions on stored data, server-side validation of uploaded files, secure storage of API credentials, rate limiting, and security monitoring. Sensitive payment-card data is handled by Stripe, not stored by GarageGuide. However, no internet transmission, application, database, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and should notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
GarageGuide is not directed to children. You must meet the minimum age required by applicable law and by the third-party services used to provide GarageGuide. GarageGuide is currently intended only for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through accounts intended for adult users. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child contrary to applicable requirements, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you rights regarding your personal information. These rights may include the ability to request: access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of information, a portable copy of certain information, information about how personal information is used or disclosed, and opt-out of certain uses of personal information. Certain rights may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.
To submit a privacy request, contact support@garageguideapp.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
GarageGuide and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Data-protection laws may differ between jurisdictions. Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers of personal information.
GarageGuide may contain links to websites, applications, videos, retailers, or other services that we do not operate. This Privacy Policy does not govern those third parties. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of third-party services before providing them with personal information.
We may update this Privacy Policy as GarageGuide develops. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date. If changes materially affect how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice when required by applicable law.
